What is the ruling on photographing natural landscapes with digital cameras and saving them on a computer, and what is the ruling if they include birds or animals?

Photographing natural landscapes such as trees, seas, and mountains is permissible, whether by manual drawing or by camera. There is no scholarly disagreement regarding its permissibility, except for what was narrated from Mujahid ibn Jabr, who prohibited photographing fruit-bearing trees. The majority of scholars based their permissibility on hadiths indicating that what is forbidden is the depiction of animate beings, such as the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever depicts a picture in this world will be ordered to breathe a soul into it, but he will not be able to breathe a soul into it." They also cited the hadith of Ibn Abbas to the man who made statues, where he guided him to depict "everything that has no soul." Similarly, the hadith of Jibril to the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Command that the head of the statue be cut off so that it becomes like the shape of a tree," which indicates the permissibility of depicting trees. If drawing by hand is permissible, then photography with a digital camera and transferring images to paper or computers is even more permissible.
