Why is bee honey not a cure for my cousin, as she experiences intestinal discomfort and pain when she consumes it, despite the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Indeed, it is a cure"?
Allah Almighty has bestowed great blessings upon His creation, among them bee honey, which combines drink, food, and medicine. Allah Almighty informed us in His Book that "therein is healing for people," and this healing is for some ailments, not for all diseases.
Healing with honey may be prevented for reasons, including: 1. The disease is not one that honey can cure. 2. The quantity consumed is insufficient. 3. The honey is not natural. 4. Affliction with the disease as a trial. 5. The presence of internal bodily impediments preventing the body from benefiting from honey.
In the Prophetic , a man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, complaining about his brother's stomach. The Prophet ordered him to give his brother honey to drink three times until he was cured. Scholars explained this by saying that "his belly lied" meant it was not ready to accept healing due to the large amount of corrupt matter that required more honey to be expelled.
It is noted that the generalization of healing in honey and black seed in the sacred texts does not mean healing from every disease. Rather, it is a general statement intended to refer to a specific application, meaning healing from diseases whose nature is suitable for treatment with honey or black seed.
Therefore, it is advisable to consult a specialized doctor to diagnose the illness and determine whether honey treatment is appropriate, as well as how and in what quantity it should be consumed.
