Is there a reward for purchasing the shroud that a person prepares for himself during his lifetime, and is Zakat obligatory on it if a year passes while he possesses it?

It is permissible to prepare the shroud during one's lifetime, according to the majority of jurists, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) approved of the man who asked him for his cloak to be his shroud. This is what the scholars have favored, while the Shafi'is disagreed, holding that it is not appropriate for one to prepare the shroud during their lifetime so that they are not questioned about it. There is no zakat due on the shroud because it is considered personal property.
