How do I strengthen my understanding and make it more robust?

To develop understanding, two things are required: innate and acquired understanding.

Understanding is strengthened by frequent contemplation, reflection, and practice, along with striving for piety, and increasing dhikr (remembrance of Allah), istighfar (seeking forgiveness), and du'a (supplication). This is exemplified by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah's supplication: "O Allah, Who taught Adam and Ibrahim, teach me; and Who made Sulayman understand, make me understand." And when he faced difficult issues, he would remember Allah and frequently seek forgiveness.

Acquired understanding is achieved through connecting and sequencing information, associating with scholars, learning, reviewing, studying, and applying scholarly matters.
