The answer

A fasting person is permitted to perform ghusl (ritual bath), and this does not affect the validity of their fast. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would sometimes be overtaken by dawn while in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity), then he would perform ghusl and fast. He was also seen pouring water over his head while fasting due to thirst or heat. The majority of scholars have permitted this. Imam Bukhari went further, allowing a fasting person to perform ghusl, citing the actions of some Companions and Successors as evidence.
