Is feeding or giving water to a black dog, which was mentioned in the Hadith as a devil, considered aiding the devil?
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded the killing of dogs, then he forbade it. He then commanded the killing of the jet-black dog with two spots, describing it as a devil. Scholars interpreted this description to mean that the black dog resembles Satan in its characteristics, being the worst of dogs and the least beneficial. It was also said that jinn often take the form of black dogs because blackness gathers satanic forces. Based on this, whoever feeds or waters such a dog is not doing good to the accursed Satan, who is from the jinn. It is therefore permissible to kill these dogs if possible, in implementation of the Prophet's command, peace and blessings be upon him.
