Scholars have differed regarding a woman plucking the hair on her face. The preponderant opinion is that it is permissible to pluck all facial hair except for the eyebrows, whether for a married woman or an unmarried one. However, if a woman grows a mustache, it is permissible to pluck it; some have even recommended it, and others have deemed it obligatory. There is no harm in removing hair from the rest of the body, such as the back, chest, arms, and legs, and custom is not taken into consideration in this matter.
