If the saved money reaches the threshold () for and a full year (hawl) has passed on it, then zakat becomes obligatory on it. Its amount is a quarter of a tenth (2.5%). Two conditions must be met for zakat to be obligatory on saved money from salary: it must reach the nisab and the nisab must remain for a full year.
