Is the jilbab worn by Muslim women, which has become a subject of ridicule in some Arab countries, a legitimate garment as stated in the Quran, or is something else intended? And what is the difference between jilbab and hijab?

Hijab is a covering. The authentic Sunnah has prescribed for women to lengthen their garments to cover their feet. Scholars agree on the obligation for a woman to cover her face when there is a fear of temptation, as it is the most prominent indicator of her beauty and arouses desire. Allah Almighty said: "O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks over their bodies. That will be more suitable that they should be known and not be abused." Whoever ridicules a woman for fulfilling this obligation is considered a disbeliever.
