If the Prophet's — may Allah bless him and grant him peace — love for something does not make it a Sunnah, then why is the jilbab considered a Sunnah?

The ruling on the jilbab varies depending on what is meant by it, as it refers to several types of garments. The obligatory attire for a woman must be covering, not transparent or tight, and not an adornment in itself. It is not a condition that it be black in color or a jilbab. As for men's clothing, it has been established that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, wore the rida' (upper garment), the izar (lower garment), the qamis (shirt), and trousers. This type of clothing falls under the category of customary practices, for which one is not held accountable for abandoning, but it is recommended to follow them, just as Anas ibn Malik loved the gourd.
