What is the ruling on one who broke their fast on a day in Ramadan due to their ignorance and the ignorance of the one authorized to issue legal rulings?

Whoever breaks their fast on a day in Ramadan without a legitimate Shari excuse has committed a manifest forbidden act. They must repent to Allah and make up for that day. If their breaking of the fast was due to sexual intercourse, then in addition to making up the day, they are required to offer expiation (kaffarah): freeing a slave. If they cannot find one, then fasting for two consecutive months. If they are unable to do that, then feeding sixty poor people. A Muslim must learn the affairs of their religion, otherwise they sin by their negligence, and their ignorance is not an excuse. One must beware of asking the ignorant.
