What is the ruling on someone who intentionally broke their fast in Ramadan out of ignorance that breaking the fast is forbidden, and they have no knowledge of the Sharia rulings?

Whoever intentionally breaks their fast during the day in Ramadan must make up for it (qaḍāʾ) and repent. Ignorance of the obligation to fast in Ramadan is not an excuse that waives the necessity of making up for it according to the majority of scholars. Making up for the fast is obligatory for anyone who broke it intentionally, forgetfully, or under duress. "Anyone who is ignorant of the prohibition of something that is commonly known among most people, their claim of ignorance is not accepted, unless they are a recent convert to Islam, or grew up in a remote area where such matters are obscure; examples include the prohibition of adultery, murder, intoxicants, speaking during prayer, and eating during fasting."
