What is the ruling on my staying alone in the apartment of my husband, who curses religion and insults me and my mother, and whose family refuses to allow me to visit my mother, and forces me to stay in the family home, and wants to compel me to return to my house, even though I do not want to return until he comes back? And what is the ruling on his cursing of religion to me and to my mother?

If a husband curses the religion, he is an apostate, and it is not permissible for the wife to remain with him. How can one be surprised by him insulting and cursing his wife and her mother? It is not the husband's right to compel his wife to live with his family; an independent dwelling is her right. She must obey her husband if he provides it for her, as long as it does not cause her harm. There is no harm in staying alone in an apartment if you feel safe. You must obey your husband if he calls you to it, but you should not be alone in it if you do not have children. Rather, it is better for you to be in your parents' home if your husband travels. You must immediately refer the matter to the Sharia court to consider the husband's disbelief and what entails from it.
