What is the reward for one who forsakes a desire for the sake of Allah the Almighty?

If one abandons a forbidden desire, Allah rewards the doer for avoiding the forbidden and compensates them with something better, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, you will not give up anything for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, except that Allah will replace it with something better for you." However, if one abandons a permissible desire out of humility or in preference to those in need, Allah grants a reward due to one's humility or spending from what one loves, and preferring the needy over oneself.
