What is the ruling on sponsoring a widow who supports five children and lives in rented accommodation, for the purpose of her obtaining an interest-based loan from the state?

Usury is one of the major forbidden sins, and it is not permissible to engage in it except out of a recognized sharia (definition) necessity. This is the situation in which one fears destruction or severe hardship. It is not permissible to guarantee someone who borrows with usury to help them commit a sin, unless the widow is compelled to borrow with usury to support herself and her children and finds no other means. In such a case, there is no harm in guaranteeing her, as it is considered permissible for her due to necessity.
