Which is better, greater in reward, heavier in the Muslim's scale of good deeds, and brings relief from distress: "None has the right to be worshipped except You; glorified be You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers" or "Astaghfirullah (I seek forgiveness from Allah)" and the Master of Supplications for Forgiveness (Sayyid al-Istighfar)?

It is permissible to combine supplications for distress and seeking forgiveness. The supplication of Yunus (peace be upon him), "There is no god but You; glory be to You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers," is recited for distress. As for "Sayyid al-Istighfar" (the master of seeking forgiveness), it is the best for those who desire forgiveness. However, a less preferred supplication might be better for some individuals depending on the presence of heart and devotion, as what a person is capable of and benefits from becomes better than what they do not benefit from.
