It is incumbent upon both spouses to live together amicably and for each to fulfill the other's rights completely. The husband's right over his wife is great, so she should not raise her voice at him or address him in an inappropriate manner. In case of dispute, understanding and arbitration by the Sharia are necessary. If they do not reconcile, then an arbitrator from his family and an arbitrator from her family should be appointed. A husband is not permitted to cease speaking to his wife for more than three days, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not lawful for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three days." Patience and diligent effort in reconciliation are advised, and one should not rush to seek divorce.
