What is the religious ruling on a wife's contention with her husband who cursed her with inappropriate insults and did not reconcile with her?

The marital relationship should be based on good companionship (bi-al-ma'ruf). The husband should not insult his wife, and if he dislikes a certain trait in her, he should take legitimate religious measures to rectify it. Abandonment ( hajr) is a legitimate punishment for discipline, but it is not permissible for abandonment to exceed three nights if it is for personal reasons. However, it is permissible if there is an overriding religious benefit in the abandonment. It is best for the wife not to abandon her husband unless she believes that abandonment will achieve its intended purpose without religious prohibitions. She may abandon him for more than three nights if it is for the right of Allah Almighty. Abandonment (hajr) here means the wife refraining from speaking to her husband, and not withholding marital rights such as abandonment in bed, unless the husband is unjust and violating her rights. Both spouses must endure harm, respond to evil with good, and strive for reconciliation with kindness and advice.
