Can one repent of a sin committed solely between a servant and their Lord without informing anyone, and is it obligatory to conceal this sin or to disclose it if someone becomes aware of it?

If you commit a sin, it is obligatory for you to repent from it and to conceal it, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "All of my Ummah are pardoned except for those who publicize their sins." Publicizing a sin after Allah has concealed it for a servant is considered an act of publicizing. If someone learns of your sin without you informing them, you are not to be blamed, and they are not permitted to disclose it, for Allah, the Almighty, says: "Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread [or publicized] among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter."
