Al-Aqsa Mosque is the mosque of Jerusalem (Bayt al-Maqdis), the first of the two qiblas, the second mosque built on Earth, and the third most virtuous mosque. It and its surroundings are a sacred and blessed place according to the text of the Quran, and it is one of three mosques to which journeys are undertaken specifically for worship. When Solomon (peace be upon him) built it, he asked Allah that no one should come to it for prayer except that he would emerge from his sins as on the day his mother bore him. As for the Palestinian issue, it is an Islamic one, and Muslims are concerned with its liberation and the removal of injustice from its people.
