Is it obligatory for an English language teacher to change her specialization to a religious one in order to become a Da'iyah (caller to Islam), and how can she rid herself of the whispers of Riya' (showing off) and the feeling of joy when praised for her commitment?

The study of Islamic knowledge is required of all Muslims, and the student of religion should teach it to others because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed for radiance for whoever heard his words, comprehended them, and conveyed them. The English teacher should use her specialization in education and moral refinement through Islamic or beneficial examples, and she should seek reward in employing her specialization for what is beneficial, and not change her specialization. The whispers of Satan to discourage people from acting upon religion must be countered by remembering the reward from Allah for those who teach and spread His religion, for Allah has promised success to those who invite to good. Rejoicing in being an English teacher and committed is a praiseworthy joy, and we hope it is among the glad tidings for the Muslim in this worldly life.
