Is a mentally ill person considered a martyr? May Allah reward you.

Allah afflicts some of His servants with physical or psychological pain. The Muslim should be patient, in accordance with the hadith: "Wondrous is the affair of the believer... If he is afflicted with adversity, he perseveres, and that is good for him." Patience in the face of tribulation expiates sins and elevates ranks, as in the hadith: "Nothing afflicts a believer, not even a thorn that pricks him, but Allah records a good deed for him thereby, or erases a sin from him thereby." This does not contradict taking measures to ward off tribulation, such as medication and supplication. The mentally ill person falls under this category. However, there is no evidence to suggest that they are considered martyrs.
