If a man dies, leaving behind a wife, three daughters, and two sons, and no other heirs, then his wife receives one-eighth due to the presence of a lineal descendant heir. The remaining inheritance is for the children by ta‘sib (agnatic inheritance), with the male receiving the share of two females. The estate is divided into eight shares: one share for the wife, two shares for each son, and one share for each daughter. Unmarried children are not entitled to receive more than their prescribed legal share on the pretext that their father intended to marry them off.
