What is the ruling concerning the Mandaeans in Morocco who claim to follow the religion of Ismail (peace be upon him)? And are they in the right or are they astray?

The scholars differed regarding the identification of the Sabians mentioned in the Qur'an. After the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), anyone who follows a religion other than Islam is considered a disbeliever, even if they attribute themselves to previous prophets, because Islam abrogated previous laws and obligated following Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and believing in him. Therefore, the Sabians today, who claim that John (Yahya) is their prophet, are considered disbelievers unless they believe in Islam and its message. Whoever believes that there is a path to Allah other than following Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), or that anyone is permitted to deviate from his law, is a disbeliever.
