What is the ruling concerning a man who committed adultery multiple times under the influence of sorcery, which was performed on him by the very woman with whom he committed adultery, and the sorcery aimed to cause separation between him and his wife—is this man excused for his actions?

The Muslim's impenetrable fortress is the remembrance of Allah and seeking refuge in Him. Reliance upon Him is sufficient and guides. Whoever falls into adultery must repent, seek much forgiveness, and perform righteous deeds. Whoever commits a forbidden act under the influence of magic that deprived him of choice is excused, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Raised from my Ummah are mistakes, forgetfulness, and what they are coerced into," and his saying: "The pen has been lifted from three: from the insane person whose mind is overwhelmed until he recovers, from the sleeper until he awakens, and from the child until he reaches puberty."
