Will a person be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about the religion of his wife and children and their deeds? And is it obligatory for him to divorce his wife if she is religious but does not adhere to the hijab and permits handshakes and intermingling, or should he refrain from marrying her if he knows this before marriage?

The Sharia encourages marriage to a religious woman. A woman who does not observe hijab, shakes hands with men, and mixes with them should not be married by a Muslim man. If he does marry her, he must oblige her to wear the hijab. If she complies, then that is good and excellent. Otherwise, it is recommended for him to divorce her, because jurists have stated that divorce becomes recommended when the wife neglects something of her religion. However, if he guides and advises her and she does not respond, he is not obligated to divorce her, nor will he be questioned about her sin. Rather, he will be questioned about his negligence in his responsibility towards her.
