Is moderation in material, spiritual, and moral demands obligatory or recommended?

Justice is a religious obligation. Allah has described His servants as moderate in spending and has forbidden extravagance, encouraging humility and spending without waste or stinginess. A servant is commanded to increase their faith, engage in the worship of their Lord, and act upon what has been authentically reported from the Messenger and the Companions. Their complete adherence to their religion is not contrary to moderation. Deviation from moderation occurs by prohibiting what is permissible or burdening oneself with what has not been legislated, whereas spending in acts of charity is legislated. The Lawgiver has encouraged spending and charity, and Abu Bakr spent all his wealth, which the Messenger approved. The Lawgiver also encouraged lofty matters, and Allah loves noble character.
