How many pronouncements of divorce are counted if you uttered the oath of divorce twice: the first time as a slip of the tongue in a state of extreme anger, and the second time while you were aware of it during a quarrel, knowing that you suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder that compels you to utter divorce despite your love for your wife?

Anger does not prevent a divorce from occurring unless the person experiencing it is unaware of what they are saying. If a husband’s tongue slips and he utters the word of divorce unintentionally, his divorce does not occur. Similarly, the divorce of a person afflicted with obsessive thoughts (waswasah) does not occur if their condition leads them to utter the word of divorce involuntarily. One must turn away from obsessive thoughts and seek refuge in Allah from Satan.
