Is it obligatory to face the Qibla when sitting down to study, and is not facing it considered a sin?

Studying is a permissible act that can be commendable with good intention. It is recommended to face the Qibla while studying, as the direction of theibla is the most honorable of directions. It has been narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, the best of gatherings are those facing the Qibla." Facing the Qibla while sitting is recommended but not obligatory, so one who does not sit facing it is not sinful.
