Is it obligatory to supplicate and recite the Qur’an facing the Qiblah?

Facing the during supplication (Du'a) and reading the Qur'an is recommended, not obligatory. This is supported by the fact that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, faced the Qibla when supplicating for rain (Istisqa) and on the day of Badr. Whoever faces it will be rewarded, and whoever does not face it will not be sinful.
