What is the ruling on the prayer of a female patient with muscular dystrophy who cannot move her body except her head with difficulty, and is ablution obligatory upon her?

Prayer is obligatory for the adult, sane Muslim, according to their ability, whether standing, sitting, or lying on their side. If they are unable to do so, they may gesture with their head. If they are unable to do that, they may gesture with their eyes and intend with their heart. Purity is obligatory for prayer, due to the Almighty’s saying: "O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles" and due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "No prayer is accepted without purification." Therefore, you must help her perform ablution, and if she is unable to use water, perform tayammum (definition) for her.
