Is it permissible for a Muslim female doctor working in the Accidents and Emergency department to wear a medical uniform with short sleeves, while trying to keep her arms covered as much as possible, and only exposing them briefly when dealing with a patient? Is the loose-fitting pair of trousers she wears considered part of the rulings of hijab? Is the money earned from this profession considered unlawful if it involves uncovering the forearms when treating patients?

It is not permissible for a female doctor to expose her forearms in front of a male patient, based on the consensus that a woman's entire body is 'awrah (private, to be covered) except for her face and palms. Working in medicine is not an excuse for this. Her salary is permissible for her because it is in exchange for a permissible work, despite her sin. It is not permissible for a woman to go out in trousers in front of men, even if they are loose, because they reveal the size of her thighs and legs, and because it involves imitating men, unless she wears a long, concealing coat over them.
