Is it permissible to strike someone who insults Allah while in a state of intoxication?
Drinking alcohol is a major sin. An intoxicated person is not held accountable for what he says while drunk due to his lack of awareness of what he is saying. Therefore, he is not judged to be an apostate if he curses Allah while intoxicated. This does not mean that the hadd punishment should be carried out on him or that he should be confronted, as carrying out the hadd punishment is the responsibility of the ruler (wali al-amr).
