If your mother takes money without asking for it, there is no harm in her taking it, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Take it, and whatever comes to you from this money while you are neither aspiring for it nor begging for it, then take it; but what is not so, do not let your soul follow it." However, if she asks for money or takes it under the pretense of poverty when she is not poor, then she must abandon it or give it to someone who is more in need. The mother's maintenance is not obligatory upon her daughter's husband, but rather upon the daughter herself if she is wealthy and the mother is in need. You can advise your mother and explain the ruling of the matter to her, but if she does not respond, then leave her to her own devices.
