Are women who work and reside in homes considered concubines?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Servants in homes are not like slaves; rather, they are like private employees. Any injustice committed against them is not sanctioned by Islam but is instead forbidden. Islam has encouraged kind treatment towards them. Furthermore, it is not permissible to be alone with servants, whether male or female, or to gaze at them, as they are non-mahram (foreigners) with whom modesty and covering must be observed. Obedience to parents or anyone else in disobeying Allah in this matter is not permissible.
