There is no explicit, authentic text that clarifies the status of the Arabic language. However, many verses mention the Arabic language, such as His Almighty's saying: "Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand" [Yusuf: 2], and "In a clear Arabic tongue" [Ash-Shu'ara: 195]. There is also a weak hadith regarding its virtue: "Love the Arabs for three reasons: because I am an Arab, the Qur'an is Arabic, and the language of the people of Paradise is Arabic." Its honor is sufficient in that Allah Almighty revealed His Book in it.
