What may a woman do after the completion of her mourning period of four months and ten days, and is the common practice among them of performing ghusl, wearing a white garment and a silver ring, then going out facing the qiblah and uttering the Two Testimonies, correct and lawful?

The woman whose husband has passed away must observe a mourning period (iddat al-ihdad) of four months and ten days, if she is not pregnant. If she is pregnant, then her waiting period ends with childbirth. The rulings of mourning are: staying in the house where her husband passed away until the end of the waiting period, and not leaving except for a necessity; and abandoning adornment, including clothes, jewelry, perfume, kohl (eyeliner). What some women do, such as bathing with water and sidr, wearing white, and a silver ring after the end of the waiting period, are reprehensible innovations that have no legal basis in Islamic law.
