What is the reason for the revelation of Surat Al-Jinn and its naming?

Surat Al-Jinn was named as such due to the mention of jinn within it and the detailing of some events concerning them after the prophetic mission. It is also called Surat "Qul Uhiya Ilayya" (Say, it has been revealed to me) because it commences with this phrase. The reason for its revelation is what Ibn Abbas narrated: that the devils were prevented from hearing news from the heavens, and meteors were sent against them. They discovered that the reason for this was the Qur'an, which a group of jinn heard from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, during his prayer. So, they returned to their people, saying: "Indeed, we have heard a wondrous Qur'an, guiding to the right path; so we have believed in it, and we will never associate anything with our Lord." Thereupon, Allah revealed to His Prophet: "Say, it has been revealed to me that a group of jinn listened."
