What is the ruling on surgical operations such as castration and the removal of the uterus or ovaries, or tail docking for dogs and cats, if there is no medical necessity for them other than the owner's desire?

Firstly: It is forbidden to own dogs without a need, such as hunting or guarding crops and livestock, due to the resulting decrease in reward and imitation of disbelievers.

Secondly: Moderation must be observed in spending on permissible animals, and there should be no extravagance in their treatment and feeding. Surgical operations that are not necessitated and are considered frivolous and playful are forbidden, because they constitute a change in Allah's creation and a waste of money.
