What is the ruling on the money my friend earned as commission for mediating the sale of a tourist village?
The current tourist villages are dens of corruption, promoting immorality, alcoholic beverages, dancing, singing, and intermingling. Therefore, it is impermissible to work in them, contribute to them, assist in their operation, or act as an intermediary in their purchase. Whoever does so commits a sin and must repent and dispose of the acquired money by spending it on the welfare of Muslims. It is not permissible to own such money because it is unlawful. However, if the village is free of prohibited elements, or if the purpose is to convert it into a permissible tourist venture, then there is no harm in purchasing it or acting as an intermediary, and the money earned from that is permissible as it falls under the category of brokerage.
