What is the ruling on women praying in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and is that considered jihad and ribat (guarding Muslim lands) in the path of Allah? And what if women are at a travel distance from it; is it permissible for them to go in a group without a mahram?

It is not permissible for a woman to travel a distance that allows for the shortening of prayers (qasr) without a mahram, according to the majority of scholars, unless she is safe and her journey is for an act of worship and obedience, in which case it is permissible according to the view of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. A balance must be struck between the benefit of her going out to pray in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the possibility of her being subjected to harm by the disbelievers.
