Is it considered disobedience for a wife not to visit her mother except in the company of her husband—and based on his insistence—given her fear of displeasing him?

Obeying the husband in what is good and lawful is obligatory upon the wife, and many hadiths have been narrated emphasizing the greatness of this right. If the right to obey the husband conflicts with the right to honor one's parents, then obedience to the husband takes precedence. For a married woman, her husband has more claim over her than her parents. Therefore, it is not permissible for a woman to leave her house without her husband's permission, even if it is to visit her parents, or to check on them, or to attend their funeral, unless her husband grants her permission. The sister who asked the question should not disobey her husband, and her mother has no right to be angry with her for obeying her husband.
