Lottery is gambling, and it is not permissible to engage in it, nor to benefit from the money acquired through it, even if one did not participate in it or pay a fee to join. It is not permissible to accept a gift from ill-gotten gains. It has been previously explained that earning such money is illicit and forbidden. This money must be spent on public welfare, such as feeding the poor and the needy.
