What is the way to satisfy the mother and end the dispute between the wife and the mother, and is it permissible to abandon the first wife until matters are resolved?
Islam has emphasized the obligation of maintaining kinship ties and warned against severing them, making it one of the forbidden acts, citing the verse: {Then would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption in the land and sever your [ties of] kinship?} (Quran 47:22), and the that illustrates the greatness of upholding kinship ties.
Therefore, the estrangement between the mother, the maternal aunt, and the wife is forbidden, and they must repent and initiate reconciliation, as boycotting among relatives is even more forbidden.
You must strive to reconcile everyone; this falls under the category of offering sincere advice and changing what is wrong.
It is not permissible for your mother to boycott your wife due to a dispute involving your wife's mother, nor is it permissible for you to boycott your wife merely because your mother dislikes her.
The dispute between your mother and your maternal aunt does not justify boycotting your wife or your mother severing ties with her, and it is not permissible for your wife to boycott your mother.
If you command your wife to maintain ties with your mother, she is obligated to obey. If she does not comply, she is disobedient, and the ruling of nushuz (rebellion/disobedience) applies to her.
