What is the ruling on giving charity on behalf of a living and capable person?

It is permissible to give charity on behalf of a living person, and the one giving charity will receive the reward for their charity, and its reward will reach the person on whose behalf it was given. It is permissible for a person to give charity from their own private wealth on behalf of a living person, whether they are a relative or not. However, if the charity is from the wealth of the person on whose behalf it is given, it is not permissible except with their permission.
