Is a Muslim woman considered a Muslim by whispering the Two Testimonies (Shahadatayn)? And must she perform ghusl (ritual bath) for janabah (major ritual impurity) after embracing Islam if she is uncertain about her state before Islam? And is ghusl for menstruation sufficient in place of ghusl for janabah with the intention of removing the major impurity?

Entry into Islam is accomplished by merely uttering the two Shahadas (declarations of faith), whether secretly or openly. There is no requirement to declare it to anyone.

The general principle is to declare one's Islam due to the legal rulings that follow from it. However, if a Muslim fears persecution (fitnah) for themselves, it is permissible to keep their Islam secret until Allah grants them relief. In this case, it is not advisable to inform family members, for fear of persecution.

If two reasons necessitating ghusl (ritual bath) occur simultaneously (such as menstruation and janabah [major ritual impurity]), a single ghusl is sufficient with the intention of lifting both ritual impurities.
