Is there a prohibition against looking in the mirror too often, and what is the ruling on having many of them in homes?

Looking in the mirror is permissible, and may even be recommended, to avoid what disfigures and to rectify what needs rectification, and for a woman to adorn herself for her husband. Some scholars, like Imam Malik, disliked looking in the mirror only for a person in a state of ihram (ritual consecration for pilgrimage), lest it lead them to fix their disheveled appearance. The du'a (supplication) mentioned when looking in the mirror is not authentically established. Moderation in looking is required, with neither excess nor negligence. Having mirrors in the house is permissible as long as it does not reach the point of extravagance.
