What is the ruling on imagining oneself as non-Muslim figures, such as a famous athlete or a leader, while believing in the falsehood of their ways?

A person does not become an unbeliever merely by having fantasies, for Allah has pardoned this nation for whatever thoughts cross their minds, so long as they do not act upon them or speak them. It is advised not to indulge in these fantasies and to occupy oneself with beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds. The wise person is one who guards their thoughts and knows that indulging in them can lead to undesirable consequences. Thoughts are the origin of good and evil; from them arise intentions and determinations. Whoever guards their thoughts gains control of themselves, and whoever is overcome by their thoughts is overcome by their desires. Underestimating thoughts leads to destruction, and thoughts can turn into vain wishes like a mirage. They are the capital of the bankrupt and the sustenance of the empty soul content with illusion instead of realities.
