What is the ruling regarding what happened to your brother, for which four people died, and do the compensations paid by the company count as blood money (diyah)?
If your brother did not make a mistake in operating the electrical current, then he is not to be blamed, and he is not liable for expiation or blood money. Experts will determine whether he made a mistake or not.
However, if it is proven that your brother made a mistake or caused the killing by error, then unintentional killing necessitates blood money payable by his Aqilah (male relatives on the father's side) and expiation. If the company pays compensation equivalent to the legally prescribed blood money with the consent of the victim's guardians, then the demand for blood money from the killer's Asabah (paternal relatives) is dropped.
A piece of advice for the questioner and his mother is to be content and patient with destiny, remembering Allah Almighty's saying: "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred," and His saying in the Qudsi Hadith: "I have done so," and the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, saying: "Wondrous is the affair of the believer, for all his affairs are good."
