Is it permissible to eat a rabbit that was hit by a car and died before its ritual slaughter, given that the incident occurred in a war zone and its owner was unable to ritually slaughter it due to the lack of a sharp instrument?

The basic principle is that it is not permissible to eat a permissible animal unless it has been ritually slaughtered. Therefore, a rabbit that dies from an impact is carrion, and it is not permissible to eat it except in cases of necessity, based on the Almighty's saying: (But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful). Necessity is defined as the fear of harm to oneself or a limb thereof by abstaining from food. In such a case, it is permissible to eat only the amount necessary to avert the fear, without satisfying hunger or achieving satiation.
